The laundry room saga

You might have wondered to yourself why a simple laundry room might eat away at my sanity. I'm going to give you some facts and pictures to help explain.

Fact - this particular laundry room is SO TERRIBLY ORGANIZED that there is no place to hang pants and lacks so much usability that I hate going in the room.

Don't judge our pile of towels and sheets! :)
Fact - the husband uses the laundry room as a paint prep room and paint storage room - BOTH of which grate on my last freaking nerve.

Fact - storage and organization would take care of both of these problems. So that's what happened.

To be continued.

Our weekend

Last week was busy with three of the five days requiring later work hours for one of us. Add a recent new workout regime for myself and an attempt at eating healthier and by Friday we both needed some veg time. So we ordered takeout Vietnamese and caught up on some DVR shows.

Such a good show!  Picture from here.

Saturday started out as usual - the husband gutted the terrible caulk in our shower and cleaned the ever living crud out of it - literally. That man is meticulous about stuff like that.

I did some grocery shopping and picked up some 10lb weights to go along with my workout.

We have a grocery store called Fiesta and they sell really cheap produce. For example, at the HEB (our other grocery store, sort of like Harris Teeter), those little things below are 3 for $1.

At Fiesta, they are 20 for $1. I bought what I'm guessing is close to 30lbs of vegetables (good stuff like red peppers and avocados, etc) and spent $22. That's my kind of store.

I got home and cleaned the veggies, did some prepping for food stuff and contemplated how to take back my sanity from my house.

Then things sort of went downhill, in a way.

The cluttered areas of our house that have, as I've mentioned, eaten away at my sanity slowly but oh so surely finally caused a break. I told the husband I wanted to go to Ikea Sunday to get organization stuff for some of the rooms that are chowing down on my sanity. He said, "lets go now," and what began as a normal weekend quickly turned into chaos (albeit organized and sort-of-planned).

Here's a sneak peak.

Life list

Yeah, I'm gonna get on the bandwagon of life lists - you know, lists of things you really want to do in your life. But I'm trying to be super intentional about my life list so I've only got a few for you today. And to be totally honest, I am 'borrowing' the idea for the first one from a blog post I can't seem to find today. The blogger said she wanted to start out her list with something she can cross off. It just so happened that I totally loved her first item and it fits me pretty well too (if/when I find the originator of this idea I will update this post).

1. Not run a marathon!  YAY - totally accomplished!
2. Learn to sail a boat.
3. Do two pull ups.
4 through 100 - TBD

Shenanigans

We had some fun with Jenny and Mike during our visit to NC. Hey, they aren't the only shenanigan-bringers - my grandmother can throw down. Enjoy! :)

My other parents

They clean up real good.

Love all the silly in this picture.

Wonderful grandparents

My bff likes to cut people off in photos - here at least are both of our heads.

Like I said, shenanigans.

NC day trip

While in the great state of North Carolina we made our way to Raleigh for a bit Sunday. In between visiting with friends, we took a quick and hot tour of NC State's campus. My how things change in lots of years. But the campus looks great and it was fun seeing all the new stuff, including a seriously awesome Centennial campus where the new spectacular alumni building sits. We also took a few photos - enjoy!

The Bell Tower

We saw a unicyclist and of course the husband had to get a picture.

Getting settled in

We are slowly (and somewhat painfully) settling back in after a fabulous 10 day trip to NC! We had a great time, got to see most of our wonderful NC friends and a whole lot of my family because of my brother's wedding.  The NC trip recap will be in several phases because we took tons of pictures and I feel the need to share a lot of them!

Phase 1. Jenny's birthday and related stuff

Jenny's birthday was a ton of fun. We went to Sweet Potatoes which of course we all love and then headed to Foothills afterward. Lots of shenanigans, lots and lots. Hey, but that's when those crazy kids are at their best! :)  Love them.

We visited with the kiddos for a bit too during the week. Unfortunately no good pictures were taken of them. However, this next picture is courtesy of the husband who likes to convince small children it is fun to play in dog crates. Thanks husband.*

*No children were harmed during this process.

Has it really been 17 years??

It's my bff's birthday today!!! We've been friends for 17 years. That makes me feel old - really, that's most of my freaking life. But I can't imagine those years without her. She is amazing - an amazing mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter, and more. I love her like a seester. I love her family like a family (yeah, her dad married my husband and I). She has and continues to be such a wonderful friend to me. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAT GIRL! :) (I thought I would break out a middle school nickname there for you).
